Inspired by the vernacular of local farm structures, this country home is a work of landscape sculpture and an architecture at one with its surroundings. Connecting nature and contemporary living, we sited the building to frame the exquisite views over the Chilterns and Oxfordshire hills and employed a muted, natural palette and materials throughout. The innovative design consists of four distinct sections, split across two wings that are united by two hit-and-miss brick spine walls. Each wing operates separately but they also function seamlessly together, to meet the client’s desire for flexibility. Creating a truly tailor-made rural retreat, that can be adapted in line with future needs.
