A 17th Century Arts & Crafts manor house presented the perfect canvas for us to apply our expertise in bringing crumbling, listed houses firmly and sympathetically into the 21st Century.
The house sits within beautifully landscaped grounds surrounded by formal canals, lakes and a river as well as several outbuildings. We have been slowly and carefully working our way through them, beginning with the main house and an Edwardian Coach House and garage.
The house posed a real challenge due to its awkward layout, but we have managed to successfully restore, rationalise, and inject a light freshness into a run-down, yet magnificent building. There has been significant focus on restoration which has included removing and replacing the main roof. Throughout the property, we needed to balance, understand and respect the historic fabric of the building as well as create a modern, simple and stylish aesthetic that would meet the needs of an international and design educated client with a fine collection of art and contemporary furniture.
